This was my wagon when I was little. It was still in pretty good shape, but after me, my brother, my cousins and a couple of dogs, it was looking a little rough.
Before
Elise loves to climb in and out of it and plays with it everyday. It made me sad to look at it, so I thought I would give it a bit of a facelift.
The decals made it look old. (Well it is old, but it didn’t have to look it.)
And the pull was just Gross with a capital G.
I remember it having a knob on the end of the pull, which was now missing. I got a knob pull from Hobby Lobby for less than a dollar. I was looking for a large bead of sorts, but I guess they don’t make those. This is like a ball with one flat side and the flat side had a pre-drilled hole about halfway through.
I needed the hole to go all the way through, so I drilled it the rest of the way. If I had a vice, this would have been the perfect time to use it. But I don’t, so I just held it with one hand and drilled with the other. Shhh…don’t tell the safety patrol. Or my dad. The wood was really soft, so it worked just fine.
Then I gave it a couple of coats of glossy acrylic paint.
Once it was dry, I threaded a new piece of cord I had through the hole, tied a knot and attached it to the wagon.
Can someone tell me what “scrapbook your wall” means?
I removed the yucky decals, but I guess the wagon has faded over the years and you could tell where they once were. I needed to cover those spots up, so I got these removable wall stickers at the dollar store. Such a deal!
And now this is the hardest part: I stuck the stickers to the wagon. Seriously, can you believe I did this unassisted? And I only ended up using about half of the stickers.
I should have guessed Elise’s favorite part would be the new pull. It’s the perfect size for little hands.
Elise loves her pretty wagon! I can’t keep her out of this thing.
