When I saw this “positions in boxing” graphic in an old 1931 encyclopedia I had, I knew I had to use it somewhere.
I just love old timey illustrations, so I scanned it and printed it out onto some thick red wrapping paper (both sides are red — the Container Store good stuff!)
Still a little curly, but it went through the printer just fine.
I got this 10 x 13 frame at Michael’s a while ago. It was supposed to be $2.97 on clearance, but rung up for a penny at the cash register. Score!
I looked for a pre-cut mat to fit the frame, but Michael’s doesn’t sell them in that size. I could have gotten a mat custom cut, but this room is on a budget! I’m not wasting money on a custom mat, so I layered my print on top of some heavy brown paper I cut to the dimensions of the frame.
I used some black photo corners I had left over from another project to tack down the corners. I think they give it that old school scrapbook look. I wanted this piece to look like something you’d find in your grandparents’ basement or hanging on the wall of some dive bar.
I think #6 is my favorite pair. A left to the solar plexus! Ugh!
I love making my own wall art because a) it’s almost free and b) it’s usually not really something you are going to find in the store. Oh and c) I won’t feel a drop of guilt when I tire of it and want to frame something else.
