I know it doesn’t look like I’ve been doing much since my last update, but I’ve been hard at work with the unsatisfying task of painting the white trim whiter.
Before
The baseboards had been painted (not by me) after the blue carpet was installed, so there was a strange uneven paint line all the way around the room. There was also a fair amount of blue carpet fuzz stuck to the dried paint.
I sanded the baseboards before painting, though not very thoroughly. They are baseboards and were already painted sloppily. If anyone feels inclined to inspect them, so be it. I will take my slaps on the wrist.
While I’m still a long way from finishing the room, I have been collecting ideas and items for the decorating phase. Let me show you a couple of things I picked up in the last week.
After a whole morning of hunting for nothing in particular, but coming up empty handed at antique malls, I stopped into a thrift store and found this barn shaped shelf for only $2.82. I thought it would be perfect for imaginative play with animal figurines.
I also found another house-shaped shadowbox exactly like the one in Elise’s room. How random is that? I guess they were mass manufactured? I snatched it up for under $2, but I am undecided if I will use it in the playroom or not.
Then earlier this week, I scrounged up this alphabet chart wall art from the clearance rack at T.J. Maxx. It has a few nicks and the paint job isn’t perfect, but I thought it was pretty cute and I can make it work for the $5 price tag. It’s 18″ x 24″, big for the price, no?
