One way to speed up the process of making a quilt is to create a whole cloth quilt. That is a single piece of fabric for the front, a layer of batting, and a single piece for the back. No cutting! No piecing! Of course, coordinating the fabrics is probably my favorite part of the quilting process, and there’s not much of that here. But turning out a finished product in just a few hours makes up for it, I suppose.
This quilt was a gift for my cousin’s baby-boy-to-be. I found all of the fabrics at Jo-Ann (whales – Jo-Ann, dots – DS Quilts, teal binding – Kona). The whales are just the best, and I am so in love with this color combo: deep inky navy, cream, and teal.
I quilted it with some (very imperfect) wavy lines using my walking foot. I tested out my free motion foot on a scrap, and quickly put that thing away again. Still not ready for that.
