As part of my 101 list, I challenged myself to make a handmade Christmas gift for each member of my family. I limited it to Dan’s and my immediate families, but that still adds up to 13 (almost 14!) people, including Elise and Dan.
Last year was my first year and I think I did OK, but I think I can do better if I start earlier. So with fewer than six months until Christmas, I’m starting … now! It may sound a little crazy, and as I write this, it even sounds a little crazy to me. But if I start in November, it will already be too late. If I keep on track, it should make for a less stressful holiday season.
While getting things done on time is difficult, the hardest part is coming up with good ideas for each person. I don’t stipulate that every gift has to be unique, but I do try to make sure every gift is personal and is something that the recipient will like. I don’t have everything figured out yet, but I do have a good start.
I am being a little loose with my definition of “handmade.” Maybe “creative” is a better adjective, because I’m OK with using sewing machines, computers, printers, etc. to make my gifts.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to share most of my gift projects with the blog until January because so many of my family members are readers (hi guys!). But I will be posting projects I make for Elise because she can’t read yet.
Let the challenge begin!
